Samhain 2014/ November 2014

November 19th, 2014

Fáilte ar ais tar éis an bhriseadh lár-théarma. Bhí sos deas againn go léir.Welcome back after the midterm break, we all had a good rest from all the fantastic work going on in every classroom.

Bhí an-spórt againn ar scoil ag ceiliúradh Oíche Shamhna. Halloween was celebrated in style with lots of spooky costumes, songs and traditional Halloween games.

Comhghairdeas le Beibhinn Ní Riain agus Daynagh Ní Cheallacháin ionadaithe na scoile ag canadh le cór Lcetb I nGlór ar an Aoine an 7ú Samhain. Best of luck to  Beibhinn and Daynagh who will both represent our school by singing with the Music generation choir in Glór on Friday the 7th of November.   Beidh rang a 4,5 agus a 6ag canadh san aerfort ar an 18ú Nollag. Táimid ag súil go mór leis! Rang a 4, 5 agus a 6 will all take part in a performance in Shannon Airport on the 18th of December as part of the Music Generation Programme. We are looking forward to it!

Rince/ Dancing

As you are aware swimming lessons have finished for this term and we have started into an 8 week programme of Irish dancing with Máiread Hackett. The first class went really well and all the children enjoyed the lesson immensely. Swimming lessons will continue in April for the final term.

Competition Winners

Comhghairdeas le Tara Ní Chinneáin  (Rang a 6) agus Aoibhinn Adelu (Rang Naíonáin mhóra) a bhuaigh an chéad áit I gcomortas ealaíne. Congratulations to Tara and Aoibhinn on winning first prize in the Halloween Painting Competition that every school in Shannon took part in. We were thrilled to have two of our talented students win first prize. Maith sibh a chailíní!

Laghdaigh, Athusáid agus Athchursáil– Sin ár mana an mhí seo. Our moto for this month is Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. We are encouraging the children to reduce waste, reuse and recycle as much as possible. One way we can do this in school is by using a flask or reusable bottle instead of juice cartons for lunch and also a lunch box instead of tinfoil and cling film to put sandwiches in. Every little makes a difference and cuts back on the amount of rubbished that is dumped into landfill each week.

Powering Kindness

Juniors, seniors and first class are taking part in the Powering Kindness initiative that Electric Ireland are promoting at the moment. They each received a goal chart and reward stickers to use at home and we would ask parents to encourage them to do acts of kindness which include  helping out around the home and showing others kindness in different ways. Our class has also registered for Powering Kindness Week in 2015 and every good deed done will raise funds for three chosen Irish charities.

Parent Teacher meetings/ Cruinniú    na Tuismitheoirí

Parent Teacher Meetings will take place all next week from the 10th until the 13th of November. Please let the class teacher know if you are unable to attend and a more suitable date will be arranged. Go raibh maith agaibh.
