November 18th, 2015Seachtain na hEolaíochta a bhí ann ar an 9ú go dtí an 13ú Samhain.
Bhí alán trialacha ar siúl ag gach rang.
Na naíonáin
Rinne na naíonáin volcano le fínéagar agus púdár bácála agus cúpla trialacha eile ag úsáid uisce.
Rang a 1, 2 agus a 3
Bhain Rang a 1,2 agus a 3 an-taitneamh as seachtain na hEolaíochta. Rinne siad turgnaimh, trialacha agus iniúchadh thar Chemic fisic agus an bhitheolaíocht.
Rinne siad iniúchadh ar forsaí nádúrtha, an ghaoth, uisce agus solas.
Rinne siad trialacha le leictreachas ag iarraidh solas a chur ar lasadh chun fháil amach an seoltóir nó insiltheoir iad ábhair éagsúla.
Chonaic siad croí ainmhí, gherramar suas é agus chonaiceamar An Aorta agus na 4 seomraí. Thóg siad a gcuid chuisle agus chomhair siad é roimh agus i ndiaidh aclaíocht. Rinne siad Pirimid an Bhia chomh maith.
Rang a 4, 5 agus a 6
Bhí alán trialacha ar siúl ag na daltaí ndaltaí ó Rang a 6 freisin. Bhí siad ag déanamh trialacha leitreachas, ag scrúdú croí agus ag déanamh trialacha uisce.
Thugamar turas go taispeantas eolaoíocht a bhí an-taitneamhach freisin.
Liosta Tógála/Building Project list
November 17th, 2015Táimid i nGaelscoil Donncha Rua thar a bheith sásta bheith ar an bPríomh Liosta Tógála.
Is nuacht iontach é seo. Táimid an-bhuíoch as gach duine shíor ag obair go díon ar son na scoile an t-am ar fad, go háirithe Antóin Mac Mathúna ár gCathaoirleach. Míle, míle buíochas!
We in Gaelscoil Donncha Rua are over the moon with delight at the news that we have been included on The Major Building Project List released today by the Department of Education. It is fantastic news and we are very grateful to everyone that has been working hard on behalf of the school, particulaly Tony Mac McMahon our Chairperson Board of Management. Míle, míle buíochas!

Tá an bhriseadh lár-théarma beag nach anseo agus tá na páistí go léir ag suil go mór le Oíche Shamhna.Tá seachtain an-gnóthach againn ag déanamh pictiuirí do na comortais ealaíne, diolacháin cácaí agus ceol ‘s cluichí le haghaidh feasta Oíche Shamhna.
The Mid-term break is almost upon us and all the children are looking forward to our annual Halloween dress up party this Friday.
We have had a very busy week creating fabulous art work for the annual Sky Court Halloween competition, organising our cake sale and preparing music and games for the upcoming Halloween celebrations.
Junior and Senior Infants will put on a short performance of Spooky Halloween poems and songs for their parents on Friday at 1:20pm. Fáilte roimh thuismitheoirí na naíonáin go léir!
Ceol
Music Generation:Music Generation is well underway and we have a new music teacher; Rhonwen working on new songs with Rang a 3 go dtí 6. Tá na páistí ag baint an-taitneamh as na hamhráin nua go léir!
Snámh
As the weather begins to get colder, this Thursday the 22nd will be the final week of swimming for this school term. Lessons will continue in Spring 2016.
Damhsa
Beidh na páistí ag tosnú ar ais le Mairead ag damhsa tar éis an bhriseadh. The children will start back at dance lessons with Mairead Hackett after the mid-term break. A cost of 2 euro per child will go towards renting the hall in the Leisure Centre. Go raibh maith agaibh.
Turas beag
Rang a 1 go dtí a 3 enjoyed an entertaining afternoon in the library with Tadgh Mac Dhonnagain as part of Children’s Book Festival 2015.
Nuacht Bord Bainistíochta
Our Board of Management were delighted with our follow up Whole School Evaluation report from The Dept. of Education published at the end of September. A summary of the report can be viewd on the Deptment of Education website.
A letter was sent home last week with details of a meeting to be held on the 4th of November in order to nominate two parents (mum & dad) representatives onto the new Bord of Management.
Coiste na dtuismitheoirí
Michelle, Emma and Kellie have been busy organizing a number of fundraising ideas in order to raise much needed funds for the day to day running of the school.
A Cake Sale will take place in the school at 1:30pm this Thursday the 22nd. All baked goods donations greatly appriciated! Children will be able to buy buns at 12 a chlog on the day.
A new school calendar for this coming year 2016 is also in production which will feature art work created by your wonderfully talented children . The calendar will be sold in order to raise funds for the school.
Order forms for Christmas cards will also be sent home this week, parents interested in purchasing pupil designed Christmas cards should complete and return this form as soon as possible. We are very grateful for the continued support of our Parents Council and we urge any parents willing to help out and get involved to email gdrparentsassociation@gmail.com.
