Céad Chomaoineach

Beidh lá mór ag rang a dó ar an 7ú  Bealtaine nuair a bheidh siad ag glacadh a gCéad Chomaoineach.  Beidh seans ag rang 3,4,5 & 6 canadh sa chór agus na feadóga a sheinm an lá sin.

Children from Rang a dó will receive their First Holy Communion on Saturday May 7th at 130pm in St John and Paul’s Church.  We would ask all pupils from Rang 1 – 6 to attend, sing in the choir and play the tin whistle.

 

Music generation workshop:

The children all enjoyed attending the songster workshop run by music generation. They participated in a range of fun musical experiments, including, creating harmony’s, writing lyrics, making music mash-ups and learning how to beatbox. A great day was had by all.

Comhghairdeas don seisear seo Rio, Ava, Louise, Joey, Crea agus Caoimhe  a bhuaigh an comórtas “Scríobh Leabhar”!

Congratulations to the six of our pupils who won medals for their contribution to “Scríobh Leabhar”.The children wrote and illustrated their own Irish story books for the competition. Caoimhe’s story was also regoconised in the all Ireland comórtas leabhar with Gaelscoileanna Teo.

Well done to All who participated. Táimid brodúil asaibh agus as an iarracht a rinne sibh leabhar Gaeilge a scríobh. Tá na leabhair seo sa scoil más maith libh iad a léamh.

 

Eason Spelling Bee:

Rio Nic Ghabhann has won the in school competition for entry to the Eason’s spelling bee. She will represent Gaelscoil  Donncha Rua in the upcoming Clare county final.

Girls and boys ó rang a 4,5 & 6 enjoyed an exciting day out last week when they took part in the FAI spar five aside competition in Lee’s road. Thanks to PARENTS Linda and Steven Austin for training the teams. They all played great on the day. Maith sibh!

 

 Iomáiníocht/ Hurling

Tosóidh an iománaíocht ar an Luan 25ú lá Aibreán agus gach Luan ar feadh sé seachtain.

The GAA will begin hurling skills training on Monday 25th of April for all classes from Naíonáin to Rang a sé.

Six week Gaelic Conversation course:

Club na Sionna will hold a six week course for those interested in improving their skills with the Irish language. Cleachtadh comhrá ag an Sean Bheár, Wolf Tones na Sionna, 7:45pm, ag tosnú Dé Céadaoin 27ú Aibreán. Cead isteach saor-Tuilleadh eolais ón scoil.

Parents Council Conference

The NPC Annual Conference will be taking place on the 28th of May 2016 in the National College of Ireland, Dublin
The title and theme of this year’s conference will be Ready, Steady, Learn – Parents supporting their Children’s Healthy Learning.

This conference will encompass how parents can actively support their children’s mental (emotional), physical (nutritional) and creative health.
The Keynote Speaker Shane Martin is a leading Psychologist within the area of education. Shane’s presentation will be positive parenting: Harnessing Strengths within Children. If you are interested in attending this course please contact the school for more details.

 

 Bord Bainistíochta

The Board of management have recently ratified a number of changes to both the school’s Enrolment and IT policies. New policies will be uploaded to the school website.(www.gdr.ie) in coming weeks.

Our school was proud to raise the national flag on proclamation day. It was a very special event, which was enjoyed by all. We would like to thank all those involed in making the day such a success!

The Easter bonnet competition was a great success. The children put a lot of effort into their creations and produced wonderful results. Many thanks to the grandparents who acted as impartial judges for the competition.

Blitz Iománaíochta/ GAA Hurling Blitz

Rang a 3-4… 15ú Aibreán… 10:30-1:00.

3rd-4th class will take part in the Hurling Blitz on April the 15th from 10:30-1:00 @ the local GAA pitch.

Clogad agus camán ag teastáil!

Teams will be picked at random so players from different schools will make up each team. We would encourage lots of parents to attend both to support and assist in the running of the games. Helmets must be worn!

Rang Mhuireann will attend on a Wednesday morning beginning on the 6th of April, while rang Deirdre will begin on Thursday the 7th @ 9am.

FAI Spar 5 a side

Rg.4-6: 14ú Aibreán 10-3 a chlog Lee’s Road, Inis.

The boys and girls from 4th, 5th and 6th class will take part in the FAI five a side competition on the 14th of April.

The competition will take place from 10am until 3pm.

Children taking part in the Escalation singing Program enjoyed an exciting day out when they performed at the Irish World Academy in UL this month. They sang beautifully on the day.

 

Glór

Beidh Rang a 3,4,5 agus 6 ag dul go dtí Glór in Inis ar an Déardaoin an 7ú lá Mí Aibreán le haghaidh ‘Music Workshop’.

Bus ag fágáil na scoile ag a 9:15, táille €2.

Children from 3rd to 6th class will travel to Ennis on Thursday the 7th of April where they will be involved in a Music workshop with Music generation.

There is a cost of €2 per child for the bus.

 

Comórtas Féile na hInse

Comhghairdeas chuig Karly agus Aoibhinn (rg 6), Rio (rg.5) agus Louise (rg.2) a bhuaigh bonn i gcomórtas Féile na hInse.

Congraulations to all of the girls who won a medal for their Art work in Féile na hInse.

Ár mbuíochas leis an leabharlann, Kay Glody agus a cáirde ó ‘Senior Citizens’ a mhúin rg 4,5 & 6 conas cniotáil. Many thanks to the Senior Citizens who taught our students how to knit.

 

Coiste na dtuismitheoirí

Buíochas le gach tuismitheoir agus páiste a chabhraigh €1,032 a bhailiú le Crannchur na Cásca. Thanks so much to all the parents and pupils that helped raise €1,032 from our Easter Raffle, Well Done!!
