FAIS Futsal 2017

Ghlac Rang 3 & 4 páirt ins an FAIS Primary Schools Futsal ar an Aoine. Bhaineamar an-taitneamh as na gcluichí agus go raibh míle maith agat Denis Hynes a d’eagraigh an blitz. Beidh Gaelscoil Donncha Rua ar ais arís an bhliain seo chugainn!


Children’s Book Festival 2017

Bhí tráthnóna deas ag rang a 3, 4 agus a 5 Dé hAoine seo chaite  sa leabharlann le Tadhg Mac Dhonnagáin ag insint scéalta dóibh!

As part of Children’s Book Festival 3rd,4th& 5th class went to our local library to listen to well known children’s author Tadhg Mac Dhonnagáin on Friday last. They really enjoyed it!

Tá an bhriseadh lár-théarmach beagnach anseo agus tá na páistí go léir ag súil go mór l’ Oíche Shamhna. Tá mí an-gnóthach romhainn le AGM Coiste na dTuismitheoirí, Siúlóid na Samhna, Díolacháin cácaí, féasta, discó agus gleasadh suas. Nach bhfuil an t-ádh leis na leanaí I nGaelscoil Donncha Rua!

The mid-term is almost upon us and all the children are looking forward to Halloween. We have a very busy month ahead of us with The Parent’s Council AGM, Our Sponsored Walk, Cake Sale, Halloween Dress-up party and disco. How lucky are you kids!

Ar an 20ú lá beidh na páistí  ó Rg a 3-5 ag dul go dtí an leabharlann chun buaileadh leis an t-údar Tadhg Mac Dhonnagáin. 3rd-5th class will visit the Library on the 20th of Oct to see Author Tadgh Mac D as part of The Children’s Book Festival.

Beidh Aisling agus Francis ag déanamh ‘Fun Friends’ agus ‘Friends For Life’ training course ar an 11ú lá agus an 12ú/10/17. This programme assists children in developing life skills to cope effectively with difficult and/or anxiety provoking situations. It helps builds resilience and problem solving abilities and a lot more. Beidh Deirdre agus Patricia ag déanamh Maths training ar an Aoine 13/10/17. 

Anti-Bullying training: Beidh na múinteoirí go léir ag freastal ar Traenáil Frith-Bhullaíocht ar an 30/11/17. All Teachers will be attending Anti-Bullying Training at the end of November.  

Snámh/Swimming:Tá 3 sheachtain fágtha againn leis an snámh. Beidh na páistí ag dul ag snámh ar an gCéadaoin an 25/10/17  in ionad an 27/10/17. We have 3 weeks of swimming lessons left for this term. The children will go swimming on the Wednesday the 25th of Oct instead of the 27th as they will be dressing up for the Halloween disco and taking part in our Sponsored walk on the last Friday before the break up (Sponsorship cards will go home today).

Sraith Cispheil/Iomáiníocht: Go raibh maith agat do Mhúinteoir Patricia agus Múinteoir Richard atá ag déanamh sár-obair leis na daltaí leis an spórt. Thank you to Múinteoir Patricia & Richard for all their extra time they have been giving to Basketball (lunch time & after-school) and Hurling (after school). 

Cuairtóirí/Visitors to the school :Ms. Knight from St. Caimin’s will visit Rg a 6 on 6/11/17 and has asked us to inform you of St.Caimin’s open night on the 13th of Nov. from 5pm-7pm.

Garda Paul Clancy will visit Rg a 4, 5 & a 6 this week to talk about the importance of staying safe at this time of year with Halloween

 

We would like to extend our sincerest sympathies to Múinteoir Muireann and her family on the death of her mother; Cáitlín Uí Chathasaigh, last week. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a h’anam.

Nuacht Litir Méan Fómhair 2017

Fáilte ar ais ar scoil, tá súil agam go raibh sos deas agaibh go léir. Welcome back to school, we hope you all had a lovely summer break! We would like to invite and encourage all our new and current parents to get involved with  our Parents council/Coiste na dTuistí this school year! Fundraising will begin with a cake sale at the end of the month held by Rang a 6.

Múinteoirí Nua/New Teachers: Cuirimid fáilte ar leith roimh ár múinteoirí nua; Múinteoir Francis atá ag múineadh Rang a 4, 5,& a 6, agus Múinteoir Dennis (Múinteoir Speisialta Foghlama/Special Education Teacher). Fáilte freisin chuig na Naíonáin Bheaga nua a thosaigh linn Dé Céadaoin seo caiteA warm welcome also to the new junior infant’s class!

Tionól/Assembly: We will be holding a school assembly every Thursday for all classes. This will provide us with the opportunity to reward children for ‘Labhairt na Gaeilge’, good behaviour & efforts as well as achievements both in and out of school. Please encourage your child to inform us of any special achievements received so that they can be acknowledged.

Ēide scoile/School uniform should be worn everyday except for PE and swimming days, Go raibh maith agaibh!

Our Homework policy is currently under review and we would ask that all parents fill in the questionnaire sent home to help us make the changes required. Parent and pupil feedback and opinions are very important to us in devising this policy. Go raibh maith agaibh!

Tionscadal/Project work: Our school is delighted to have so many students from different nationalities and for the coming term we would like to celebrate this by doing a whole school project whereby each class will undertake a country of interest. Through research and investigation they will gather as much information as they can about the different cultures and traditions of Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Nigeria. We will look at aspects such as language, traditional music, dance and food as well as home and school life. We would ask parents to get involved with this project work and also to inform us of any other countries that they may like to include that may be of significance to their own family.  Ar scáth a chéile a mhaireann na daoine!

downloadSnámh/Swimming:Beidh snámh ag tosnú ar ais ar an Aoine an 8ú/9/17. An 8 week block of swimming lessons will start this Friday the 8/9/17 and will run until the mid-term break. Rg 4,5,& 6 will go at 9:15 and Rg.1,2 &3 will go at 10 a chlog. School tracksuits can be worn and please remember to bring €3 and swimming gear! Tá cead culaithe reatha a caitheamh ar an Aoine!

Accelerated Reader will continue this year with the help of our local library. Classes will visit once every two weeks to change or renew books.

 Ceol/Music. Classes will continue to meet on a Wednesday for ‘Ceol’ to practice for the school choir and tin-whistle. We are very lucky to have Múinteoir Francis on board as he is a talented musician and has won a number of All Ireland medals for playing the concertina. “Bocht an Eaglais gan cheol”!
